Claridge’s Weddings

Why we love DJing at this iconic London hotel

We've played at some seriously beautiful London venues over the years, but Claridge's weddings are hard to beat when it comes to that fizzy feeling of walking into a room and immediately knowing: this is going to be a good party.

It's glamorous, unmistakably London and full of the kind of detail that makes a wedding feel like a proper occasion.

And the event rooms are on a whole other level: Disco balls, amazing lighting, and a dancefloor, with the bar right there in the room.

Yep. We're in.

An iconic London setting

Right in the heart of Mayfair, Claridge's is about as central as London wedding venues get, surrounded by some of the capital's most recognisable streets, shops and restaurants.

And the hotel itself has a pretty incredible history.

Dating back to 1812, it opened as Mivart's Hotel in a single terraced house on Brook Street, then William and Marianne Claridge bought the hotel in 1854 and it eventually took their name.

The current building opened in 1898, before being transformed again during the 1920s with the Art Deco redesign and extension that helped create the Claridge's we know today.

It's also been a favourite of royalty for generations - so much so that it was once nicknamed the annex to Buckingham Palace.

And yes, apparently cricket was once played in the ballroom - a rumour which we absolutely love - but we’re far more interested in what happens on the dancefloor.

The ballroom...

Claridge's ballroom is utterly gorgeous. The lighting is fantastic, the low lights and disco balls are already doing a lot of the work, and the whole space has that slightly decadent, late-night feel that makes you want to turn the music up.

And thankfully, the venue is very happy for us to do exactly that.

We've always felt that the best wedding venues understand that the party is part of the experience, not something that just happens after the ceremony is over, and Claridge's absolutely gets it.

The bar is also in the same room as the dancefloor, which makes a surprisingly big difference. Guests don't disappear off somewhere else every time they want another drink, so the energy stays together and the dancefloor keeps pulling people back in.

For a DJ, that's exactly what you want.

Our approach to your playlist

Of course, a beautiful room can only take you so far, the music has to work too.

We never believe in arriving with a rigid playlist and simply working through it from beginning to end. Every wedding is different, and the right soundtrack depends on the people in the room.

So at Claridge's, we might start with something elegant and understated while guests arrive, then gradually build through dinner and drinks before shifting the energy towards the dancefloor. Because you can't manufacture the atmosphere with a playlist; you have to read the room.

A venue that makes our job easier

There's another side to working at a venue that doesn't always make it onto the wedding brochures, and that’s the people.

We've found the Claridge's team to be really helpful and lovely to work with, which makes a huge difference when you're arriving with equipment, setting up and working alongside an events team to get everything running smoothly.

And because it's right in central London, it's an easy venue for guests and suppliers to get to too.

Those things might not sound as glamorous as disco balls and Art Deco interiors, but they're the details that make a wedding day run well. And when everything behind the scenes is working, we can concentrate on what we're there to do: The music.

Why we'd love to DJ more weddings at Claridge's

Claridge's has all the things you want from a London wedding venue: incredible history, beautiful design, a brilliant location and a party space that genuinely feels built for a wedding celebration.

And for us, it's the combination of all those things that makes it work so well. And that’s why we love DJing at this iconic London hotel.
